Branson Deaf Appreciation Weekend

Branson Deaf Appreciation Weekend
Branson’s first Annual Deaf Appreciation Weekend will be happening this Memorial weekend. Featured will be The White House Theatre, The Magnificent 7 Show, The Mansion Theatre, The Promise, Celebrate America, and The All American Café! All of these establishments/shows are S.E.E. Certified as “Deaf Friendly”.
There are an estimated 25 to 28 million Deaf in America today. Just this last month Governor Matt Blunt declared April as Missouri Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness month, with an emphasis on Branson Missouri. Governor Blunt sited Branson as a leader in the fight for equal access to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Andy Williams and Merrill Osmond kicked off the grand opening of the Osmond Family Hearing Centers in Springfield Missouri. The Hearing Centers is headed up by Merrill’s own son Justin who is definitely a chip off of the old block. Justin will be making special appearances in Branson on Deaf Appreciation Weekend as well.

Ken Glickman one of the premier entertainers in the Deaf or any other culture will have a special performance at the White House Theatre on May 24
th at 10:30 am.in DEAFology 101, a highly entertaining lecture on Deaf Culture by Ken Glickman, the author of
DEAFinitions and More DEAFinitions! humor books. Many situations unique to the world of the Deaf are explored and explained on stage by "Prof. Glick" in his comical lab coat and beady black reading glasses. Just about everything from Anthropology to Biology to Physics is covered in this hilarious, fast-paced course!
Businesses in Branson are coming together to usher in a new era. Up until now, the Deaf and Hard of Hearing have been largely ignored. The reality is that the Deaf and Hard of Hearing are among the very best as far as patron loyalty goes, and they make up almost 10% of America‘s population. If we take the time to look around our own workplaces, we will find that it’s not that hard to become and stay “Deaf and Hard of Hearing Friendly”.
We invite you to come and be a part of this historic event. Come out and support the efforts of Branson businesses to welcome our Deaf and Hard of Hearing brothers and sisters to this wonderful city. Branson isn’t just a place on the map, it’s a warm and welcoming home away from home. It’s apple pie cooling by a window, and sweet Branson music. Music you can hear with your heart.
This event is sponsored by: Signed Entertainment Enterprises, The Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, The Deaf Awareness Group, The White House Theatre, The Mansion Theatre, The Branson Tourism Center, Affordable Branson Tickets, and The Osmond Family Hearing Centers.
